Mas Huni

This dish - made of shredded, smoked tuna - is accentuated by grated coconut, onions, and lemon. Scoop it up with a local version of chapati called Roshi.

Boshi Mashuni

Boshi Mashuni is a fresh and delightful salad made from shredded banana flowers, fresh coconut flavoured with turmeric, curry leaves, cumin, lime and Maldivian chilli.

Fisherman's Day

In honour of the Maldivian fishing community, the country holds a festival on December 10 where locals whip up seafood dishes, sing songs and put up special performances.

National Museum

This museum was established to preserve the history of the Maldives. Discover a collection of scientific and historical exhibits that offer insights into Maldivian culture. Furthermore, you can also view a variety of Islamic artefacts.

Hukuru Miskiiy

This mosque is the oldest religious structure in the Maldives. Built in 1658 and made entirely from crushed coral, this mosque is a visual delight. You can examine the intricate decorations carved into the coral and throw a coin into the well for luck.

Tsunami Monument

This monument pays tribute to the victims of the devastating 2004 tsunami that took the lives of over 100 people, destroyed many buildings, and flooded over 2/3rds of Male.
